Position:                      ACCESS Network, Inc.,  Board of Directors

Description:                Governing body for ACCESS Network. Provides oversight, develops policies, and governs all work of the organization.

Location:                     Meetings at Ridgeland office on Okatie Highway (HWY 170). Committee work in Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton or Jasper County.

Prerequisite:               Must be an ACCESS Network contributor. Must live in Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton or Jasper County.

Time commitment:      Five regularly scheduled board meetings; committee work between meetings requires approximately one hour per week throughout the year and sometimes requires special call meetings.

HIV/AIDS Awareness

ACCESS was founded in 1987 in response to the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic. In the mid 1990s the focus of ACCESS client service changed from addressing end of life issues to helping people who are affected by HIV/AIDS live with the disease. ACCESS offers assistance with long term medical care, FREE confidential HIV Testing and Counseling, Group & Individual support programs, education and prevention, and nutrition programs. HIV and AIDS are still problems nationwide and while our focus has changed it is still our goal to help those affected by HIV/AIDS.

Homeless Care

ACCESS Network serves Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper county homeless in many ways. We offer Emergency Financial Assistance, Home Haven, Housing First Program, Technical Assistance and training and awareness. Homelessness is an often overlooked issue in our area, but it is a serious problem.
