ACCESS was formed in 1987 in response to the
growing HIV/AIDS epidemic, serving an initial
dozen clients, and more than 500 in the first decade.
In the mid-1990s, the focus of ACCESS client services
shifted from addressing end of life issues to the
challenges of providing services beyond HIV/AIDS
to long-term medical care and treatment, supportive
mental health, substance abuse services, housing stabilization and sustainability and advocacy.
